When I purchased my small home in 2012, I prioritized improvements on energy efficiency over aesthetics. Over time I replaced all windows and doors, built out and insulated all of the exterior walls, installed spray foam insulation to the roof and rim joists and replaced the kerosene monitor heater with Mitsubishi heat pumps powered by the 7KW roof mounted solar array ( that I installed myself with the help of some strong friends)

With a tight envelope achieved, power delivered by the sun and air quality maintained by a Venmar heat recovery ventilation system, I began the work of making my “forever home” a truly beautiful place inside and out. So when I decided to take what I thought would be a short break between jobs/careers, I listed my house on Airbnb for the summer of 2019 so that I could spend some quality time with the friends and family in CT.
